hiraeth

Hiraeth is a potent Welsh word often rendered as ‘longing’, ‘nostalgia’ or ‘yearning’, but in fact implies a deep emptiness often felt by those who have been forced to leave their homeland. This medley of songs resonates with these strong emotions which are associated with halcyon days of a time and place that is long gone: influences that shaped my young self. An Englsh translation accompanies each song.
